Nohalem has just finished the continuity of "Fanny Herself," for Tod Browning, and is now working with Mr. Charles Furthmann on the script of "Lotus Blossom," a James B. Leong Production. This company is backed by Chinese merchants. The original story was written by Mr. Leong, and is the first story written by a Chinese author adapted for the screen. "Sweetie Peach," and will have a short rest before commencing upon her next. She will spend the coming week at San Diego. Within a few weeks two new power wagons being built now will be ready for the night location work of Bebe Daniels and Wanda Hawley features. Each will provide electricity sufficient for 60 Klieg lights. Thomas Heffron will direct Wanda Hawley in her next picture with Maynard Laswell as assistant. HARTFORD COMPANY COMES SOUTH AT UNIVERSAL Word has been received at the office of Sol Lesser, from Joseph Montrose, that the David Hartford company has completed the filming of the far north scenes for James Oliver Curwood's story, "The Golden Snare," and that the entire retinue of players are now enroute from the Canadian location to a more southerly one in the Sierras. HUNTER GOING NORTH Director T. Hayes Hunter, making "The Light in the Clearing" for the Dial Film Company, is preparing to leave for San Andreas, near San Francisco, to secure exteriors. In the company will be Eddie Sutherland, Clara Horton, Eugenie Besserer, and Jack Rosleigh, the principals, together with a dozen other players and twenty-five rural character extras. AT THE REALART STUDIO Wanda Hawley has completed work on her latest production, temporarily titled Five directors will begin production on as many Universal pictures within a few days. Jacques Jaccard will start filming "Renunciation," the Peter B. Kyne story; Tod Browning has sent William Fildew, his chief cameraman, to New York to register atmospheric shots for "Fanny Herself," the Edna Ferber story which he will produce with an all-star cast; Fred Leroy Granville, who has just completed "The Girl and the Goose" with Eva Novak, is waiting for a new story upon which to begin work; Gladys Walton is soon to start on "The Man Tamer," in which she will again be directed by Harry B. Harris; while Rollin Sturgeon is assembling an all-star cast to appear in "Human Hearts." Stuart Paton has begun editing "False Colors," the feature in which Priscilla Dean will next be seen; Marcel de Sano is busy in his cutting room getting "The Dangerous Moment" down to footage; and Reeves Eason is assembling "Patches," in which "Breezy," his four-year-old son, is featured. Norman Dawn has left Universal City for northern Canada, where he will direct Eva Novak in "The Evil Half," a story of Alaska. Eddie Polo is working on one of the fastmoving episodes of "The Seal of Satan," his latest serial. "The Homeward Trail," Harry Carey's forthcoming feature, is being filmed under the direction of Jack Ford at Universal City. The opening episodes for "The White Horseman," Art Acord's next serial, are being filmed under the direction of Albert Russell. Iva Forrester and Beatriz Domingues have leading roles. Edith Roberts is at work at Universal City on "The Opened Shutters," a story by Clara Louise Burnham, in which she is being directed by William Worthington. Lee Kohlmar is directing Jack Perrin, the Universal star, in "Fighting Blood," a tworeeler, while Edward Laemmle, who usually directs the star, is editing "The Guilty Trail," his last production. "Way Out West," a burlesque on the wild and wooly photodrama, is being filmed with "Billy" Bletcher in the starring role. Ward Hayes is directing. "Roman Romeos," a rollicking burlesque on ancient Rome, is being produced by Eddie Lyons and Lee Moran. The production is a two-reel comedy. Hoot Gibson is being directed in another short-reel thriller by William Craft. The story is called "The Desert Spotlight," and Marcella Pershing plays opposite the star. "When Zulu Meets Zulu" is the title of a one-reel merry-go-round now being made under the direction of William Beaudine and featuring Eddie Barry. DWAN PREPARES NEXT PRODUCTION Allan Dwan is at work upon the script of "The Gold Woman," from the Red Book story by Mildred Cram. He expects to film it after the completion of "Johnny Cucabod," upon which he is now working at the Hollywood studios.
