SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL FILMS JOINS MAJOR PRODUCERSDISTRIBUTORS A new major International motion Picture production and distribution Organization, Scotia International Films Inc., has been organized by Boris Marmour, S. Benjamin Fisz, Robert Goldstein and Philip Yordan. The parent company is Britishbased Scotia Investments Limited, heavily involved in the leisure field. Yordan is president of the new company, and Fosz and Goldstein are directors. Scotia plans the production of 12 feature pictures a year, with the first three set for release in July, August and September of 1971. The three releases are A TOWN CALLED BASTARD with Robert Shaw, Telly Savalas, Stella Stevens and Martin Landau, CAPTAIN APACHE starring Lee Van Cleef, Carroll Baker and Stuart Whitman, and BAD MAN’‘S RIVER with Gina Lollobrigida, Lee Van Cleef and James Mason. Scotia International has offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, Rome and Madrid. NATIONAL GENERAL ACQUIRES EAGLE IN A CAGE World-wide distribution rights to EAGLE IN ACAGE, starring Kenneth Haigh, Billie Whitelaw, Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson have been acquired by National General Pictures Corporation. A story of power and deep human passions, EAGLE IN A CAGE revolves around Napoleon’s life in exile on the island of St. Helena after the Battle of Waterloo, and was filmed on location in Yugoslavia. ANNOUNCES GRANT RECIPIENTS The Canadian Film Development Corporation has named the winners of non-repayable grants in its recent comPetition for aspiring feature film makers on the West Coast. Grants of $7,500.00 were awarded to — Jack Darcus for his MAKE IT A HABIT, Al Razutis for THE BEAST, Miss Sandy Wilson for her entry THE BRIDAL SHOWER and Don Wilson and David Curnick for their THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT. $4,000.00 grants were won by Miss J. Eglington for her KIMI, Andrew de Lilio Tymsza who produced THE RETURN OF THE COWBOY, A. Schroeder for his THE LATE MAN, Phil Surguy for THE GREAT TAMBOURINE CONCERT and Doug White for his entry, THE RULES OF BOWLS. The winners were selected from some forty applicants by a jury representing the West Coast film industry which examined screenplays, budgets and earlier film efforts from each applicant before awarding the grants.
