3 The Canadian Film Digest DECEMBER 1972 Bednobs Campaign Shows Success Famous Players, Bellevue Film Distributors, Walt Disney Productions, Capitol Records and Nabisco combined forces for an exceptionally successful sales campaign for Bednobs and Broomsticks this year. A contest for the best campaign was held, and the winners were recently announced; as well a public contest was held. Each theatre manager and district manager who fared best was awarded an inflatable chair by Nabisco and a Disney watch by Bellevue. The latter company has Canadian rights for Disney product. Winners are Nigel Empett (Chinook, Calgary, Alberta District), Fraser Whyte, (Broadway, Regina for the Winnipeg Left to right seated: Disney’s James Rayburn, Nabisco’s John Wray, Bellevue’s Gerry Collins District), Mike Wells (Capitol, Kingston, for Les Mitchell’s Ontario District), Paul Natale (Lincoln, St. Catharines, for Alan Bell’s Ontario District), Charles Goddard (Westmeunt Square, Montreal, for the Quebec District), Greg MacNeil (Vogue, Halifax, for the Maritimes District). Twenty six Bonus Award winning campaigns out of twenty-eight submitted paydates each received twenty-five dollars. On the public side, the usual promotions via Bellevue were used. But in addition, Nabisco had a national tie-in involving merchant point of sale display material packaging. The contest for adults had expensive prizes, and ~ Disney drop-in toys for children.
