To be filmed in London is THE TIN MEN, a Lester Goldsmith production for Sourdough Ltd. and Columbia Pictures. Screenplay is by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and Michael Frayn based on Frayn’s novel. Frankovich Productions has set a September starting date for two features, both for Columbia release. STAND UP AND BE COUNTED will be directed by Jackie Cooper from an original screenplay by Bernard Slade, and BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE, starring Goldie Hawn will be directed by Milton Katselas. M.G.M. has four ready to go before the cameras. THE DEVIL’S STRONGHOLD, a Western adventure story will be produced by Bernard Schwatzt on location in Mexico. Screenplay is by Maurice Tombragel from an original story by Richard N. Husky. Another feature scheduled for shooting in Mexico is THE WRATH OF GOD. The film is based on the novel by James Graham with screenplay by Clair Huffaker. SITTING TARGET has begun shooting on locations in and around London. Carter De Haven is executive producer, Barry Kulick, producer and Douglas Hickox the director. Another one for Metro release is TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT, from a4 screenplay by Hugh Wheeler and Jay Allan based on the novel by Graham Greene. The picture will star Katherine 100 Hepburn and will be shot on location in London, Paris, Italy and Portugal. Twentieth Century-Fox has four ready to go. THE SALZBURG CONNECTION, with Ingo Preminger producing and Lee H. Katzin directing. Screenplay by Oscar Millard based on the novel by Helen Maclnnes. To be shot on location in Austria. Richard Widmark has been signed to star in WHEN LEGENDS DIE, based on the novel by Hal Borland. Stuart Miller will produce-direct. To be shot in the Southwestern U.S. Martin Ritt will direct TENDER LOVING CARE, starring Lee Marvin. This Landers-Roberts production will be produced by David Karp who is writing the screenplay from his own novel. Scheduled to go before the cameras in October is POSEIDON ADVENTURE, which will be produced by Irwin Allen and directed by Gordon Douglas. Screenplay by Wendell Mayes from the novel by Paul Gallico. United Artists is planning three for early shooting. AMERICAN GRAFFITI from an original screenplay by George Lucas who will also direct. FUZZ, starring Yul Brynner is scheduled for shooting in New York in late Fall. A Martin Ransohoff production in association with Filmways and Javelin, it will be directed by Bryan De Palma from a screenplay by Evan Hunter. First of a three-pic deal between pop singer Tom Jones and United Artists is GOSPEL SINGER, from a screenplay by Robert Thom. Gordon Mills is executive producer. Universal has three features being readied for Fall shooting. PLAY IT AS IT LAYS is an independent production to be directed by Frank Perry who will coproduce with Dominick Dunne, from a screenplay by Joan Didion and John Gregory Dunne based on the novel by Didion. To be filmed in Hollywood. Topol (Fiddler on the Roof) and Mia Farrow will star in THE PUBLIC EYE which will be produced by Hal B. Wallis and directed by Carol Reed. Shooting on location in and around London and at the Shepperton Studios. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will be directed and co-produced by Norman Jewison. His co-producer will be Robert =” PRODUCTION NOTES Stigwood who produced the concert tour. This Rock Opera was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. On the Warner Bros. schedule is CHOICE CUTS, a Russ Meyer production to be produced and directed by Myer at the Warner studios in California. Screenplay is by Jerome Kilty based on the novel by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac. LOUISE, for Warner Bros. To be directed by Philippe de Broca; Produced by Alexandre Mnouchkine and George Dancigers. Screenplay by Jean Loup Dabadie, from the story by Jean-Louis Curtis. Stars Jeanne Moreau. To film in France, this fall. HHH DRACULA CHELSEA ‘72, a Hammer Films production for Warner Bros. Alan Gibson to direct, Josephine Douglas to produce, with Michael Carreras as executive producer. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing to co-star. To film at Elstree Studios in England this fall. HHH RAGE, a Fred Weintraub Family Production, for Warner Bros. George C. Scott will both star in the film, and direct. Original story by Philip Friedman and Dan Kleinman. Fred Weintraub will produce. To film later this fall. xe Hee 1776, for Columbia. Peter Hunt to direct, Peter Stone to write screenplay, Sherman Edwards to score the music. (all these people are from the original Broadway stage version).
