16MM. FILM FEST FOR MONTREAL
The Montreal Independent Filmmakers’ Cooperative, in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada is organizing an International Festival of Cinema in 16mm. An annual, non-competitive event this year the Festival will be held from October 26th to 31st at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
The Festival, administered by a sevenmember board of directors aims to seek out and promote the artistic, cultural and social values of the 16mm. film, and expose its advantages and importance. It will be a forum of exchange, encounter, and discussion among representatives of the medium and the public, aiding the further diffusion and distribution of such films.
Expected to take an active part are members of the press, television, repre sentatives of commercial and educational distribution and numerous filmmakers.

Scary pictures (a division of lvan Reitman Productions), has completed shooting on CANNIBAL GIRLS, a _ horror-comedy. Filming was done on a farm in Aurora, Ontario, and on various locations around Toronto. Dan Goldberg produced, and Ivan Reitman was executive producer and director. The original screenplay was by Robert Sandler. Cinematographer of this 35 mm. colour film was Bob Saad. The twenty-member cast are all Ontario people, with Andrea Martin and Eugene Levy starring. Lab work is being handled at Bellevue-Pathe, with Goldberg and Reitman editing. Music has not yet been scored. Financing for CANNIBAL GIRLS was private, with a budget based at approximately $125 thousand. * +e
Another Smith Productions Limited’s ANOTHER SMITH FOR PARADISE has completed shooting in Vancouver, under the direction of Thomas Shandel, who also wrote the original screenplay. The producer is James Margellos. Director of photography is Mike Lente, and Evelyn Roth is costume designer. The budget has been set at $200 thousand, with financing from Slocan Productions Ltd., Astral Films Ltd., and the Canadian Film Development Corporation. Included in the cast are Henry Ramer, Frances Hyland, Pia Shandel, Roger Dressler, and Harry Saunders. The plot, set in present-day Vancouver, concerns a powerful wheelerdealer, his wife and her lover, and their radical daughter. ANOTHER SMITH FOR PARADISE will be released in Canada by Astral Films Limited.
FIRST ARTIST PROD. ROLLING IN LONDON
A WARM DECEMBER, starring Sidney Poitier is now in production in London. This is the first English-located pic under National General’s global distribution pact with First Artist Productions consortium of Poitier, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and Barbra Streisand. The first picture to be completed under the pact is the Newman Lee Marvin comedy western POCKET MONEY.
In addition to the Poitier pic, McQueen is scheduled to do GETAWAY in October, and Miss Streisand is set for MASQUERADE later this year.
