96 THE NATIONAL FILM BOARD OF CANADA ANDRE LAMY NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE N.F.B. ~ ANDRE LAMY A native of Montreal, married with three children, Andre Lamy has been named by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau to the post of Canadian Government Film Commissioner and Chairman of the National Film Board, for a five year term effective August 21st, 1975. Mr. Lamy who has held the office of Assistant Gevernment Film Commissioner since August of 1970, succeeds Sydney Newman who was appointed special adviser on film to the Secretary of State Hugh Faulkner. He has played a prominent role in the Canadian film industry both as an administrator and as a producer for the past thirteen years. From 1962 to 1964 he was the director of sales, and a producer with Niagara Films of Montreal. Andre Lamy headed the production operations of the highly successful Onyx Films Inc. from 1964 to 1970 during which time he was involved in several major feature productions, and has also produced many television commercials and industrial films for a wide variety of companies. He has produced numerous for both the French and English networks. Mr. Lamy was educated at the University of Montreal, and McGill University. N.F.B. AEFOINIIS eeu meee aera 7 James de B. Domville assistant government film commissioner, replacing Andre Lamy recently elevated to the post of commissioner. Before joining the N.F.B. the 42 year old Domville had a theatrical career which included being cofounder and administrator of the National Theatre School in Montreal. He is a governor of le Theatre du Nouveau Monde, Centaur Theatre, the Canadian Conference of the Arts, L’Institut International de la Musique, and a life governor of the National Theatre School. SYDNEY NEWMAN TO NEW POST Having completed his five year tenure as Government Film Commissioner and Chairman of the National Film Board, Syd Newman, no stranger to those in the Film industry, has been appointed as Special Adviser on Film to Hugh Faulkner, Secretary of State, for a two year term.
