ONTARIO THEATRE LICENCE
FEES Imposed Under The Theatres Act, R.S.O. 1960
(a) In municipalities having a population of 1,500 according to the last revised-assessment roll, 10c for each seat.or chair.
(b) In municipalities having a population of 1,500 or over but under 3,000 according to the last revisedassessment roll, 15c for each seat or chair.
(c) In municipalities having a pop
ulation of 3,000 or over but under 10,000 according to the last revisedassessment roll, 20c for each seat or chair. (d) In municipalities having a population 10,000 or over according to the last revised-assessment roll, 25c for each seat or chair.
A fee of $5 is charged for the transfer of a theatre licence.
DRIVE-IN THEATRES
Drive-ins are licenced according to the number of vehicles they can accommodate, the rate being 50c per vehicle space.
Where a licence to use a building as a Class A, Class B. Class C or Class D theatre is issued.
(a) on or after the ist day of July but before the 1st day of October the fee is four-fifths of that prescribed.
(b) on or after the 1st day of January but before the 31st day of March, the fee is one-quarter of that prescribed.
For a licence to operate for hire or gain projection equipment designed for the use of film other than standard film Exchange Licences
Exchange licences are issued by the Theatres Branch and Board of Censors (Ontario) in Toronto and the annual fees are $200 for 35mm and $100 for 16mm, an 8-millimetre and video-tape film exchange.................
The charge for the transfer of a film exchange licence is $5.

Censorship Fees’
Standard Film: 40 cents per 100 feet of film or fraction thereof of British origin. 80 cents per 100 feet of film or fraction thereof of foreign origin. (Note: For every copy in addition to the 8th copy, of British or foreign origin, regardless of length, $5 per copy.) $1 for each newsreel. $1 for each trailer of British or foreign origin, 100 feet or less in length. $2 for each trailer of foreign origin, over 100 feet in length. $1 for each trailer of British origin, over 100 feet in length.
16mm: $1.50 per reel of 400 feet. $1 for each newsreel, 50 cents for each trailer. (Note: Where 8 copies of standard film have been submitted and fees paid the fee for a 16mm copy of the same film is $5 per copy.)
For censoring 8mm cinematographic film and videotape, $1 per minute of film.
Where film submitted to the Board is wholly produced in Canada, no fee is payable therefore.

QUEBEC AMUSEMENT TAXES
Since May 1st, 1964, the amusement tax is collected by the municipalities and belongs in full to them,
Tax levied is 10 per cent of actual admission price. Each fraction of a cent is counted as 1 cent.
Up to 10c. 1c; 11-20, 2c; 21-30, 3c; 31-40, 4c; 41-50, 5c; 51-60, 6c; 61-70, 7c; 71-80, 8c; 81-90, 9c; 91-$1, 10c;. For the tax on admissions from $1.01 to $2 add 10c to the scale above; from $2.01 to $3 add 20c, etc.
Holders of complimentary or season tickets and every person admitted free into a place of amusement to attend or take part in amusement shall pay the duty based on the price of admission that he would pay if he did not hold such tickets or was admitted free.
Since May 1, 1962, a service charge of 5c on admission prices below $1 and 10c on admission prices higher than $1 is levied on attractions given in municipal buildings, which are: the Colisee, Palais Montcalm, Municipal Baseball Stadium and the city-owned race track.
The amusement tax does not apply to racing. Taxation regarding this matter has been retained by the Province of Quebec.
