CHAPLIN INTRODUCES GRATIEN GELINAS AND JAMES DE BEAUJEU DOMVILLE Immediately preceeding the awards ceremonies, Charles S. Chaplin, chairman of the Pioneer of the Year Award Dinner and Industry Ball, took time out to introduce two distinguished gentlemen who have contributed much in the past many years to the motion picture industry. Mr. Gratien Gelinas, actor, playwright and producer who is presently TORONTO MANAGERS ELECT NEW SLATE FOR ‘76 ~~ chairman of the very important DIRECTOR PETER PEARSON Canadian Film Development Corp., and Mr. James de Beaujeu Domville, newly appointed Assistant Government Film Commissioner. Both gentlemen responded with humour and dignity and were greeted with a rousing round of applause by the several hundred guests’ in attendance. The Famous Players/Century Theatre Managers’ Association at a recent meeting elected its new slate of officers for the coming year. The new president is Fern Marleau, manager of the Yonge Theatre: 1st Vice-president, Barry Browne,manager of the Skyling: 2nd Vicepresident, Phil Traynor of the Westwood: Secretary, Gerry Gollaher of the Hollywood: Treasurer, Isabel Lynch of the Park: Sic and Welfare, Doreen Ross, house manager of the Uptown: The 1976 committee chairmen and assistants will be named at the firstmeeting in the new year.
