The 1979 Festival includes, for the first time, a ‘Trade Forum’’ for Canadian and American industry representatives to exchange informatior on the ‘business’ of filmmaking. M5E 1E5 (416) 366-9266 The Golden Reel Award is sponsored by the Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association, and is presented to the producer of the Canadian feature film which has achieved the highest level of commercial acceptance, and having the broadest public appeal in the Canadian theatre in the past year. Started in 1976, the first Golden Reel Award was won by Harry Gulkin for his Lies My Father Told Me; Lawrence Hertzog received the 1977 Award for Why Shoot The Teacher; and Allan King, who was also director of the film, won the Award in 1978 for Who Has Seen The Wind.
