Film Classification Current classification categories are:
“Family” — suitable for exhibition to children unaccompanied. “Adult” — no admission to any person
under the apparent age of 16 unless accompanied by parent or bona fide guardian.
“Adult — Not Suitable for Children” — same admission restrictions as for “Adult” classification. Not an official classification, serves as a warning to the parent.
“Restricted Adult” — no admission to any person under the apparent age of 18.
A child may be admitted to a theatre at which any motion picture is being shown if
(a) he is not more than three years of age, and
(b) he is accompanied by his parent.
Screening fees:
35mm: $4 per 1000 ft. or fraction thereof; second and third prints $3 per 1000 ft. or fraction thereof; fourth and subsequent prints $1 per 1000 ft. or fraction thereof. Trailers $1 each.
16mm: $2 for each 400 ft. or fraction thereof; additional prints $1 for each 400ft. orfraction thereof.
Theatre Licences The licensing of theatres andprojectionistsis no longer required in the Province.
Amusement Tax There are no amusement taxes.

Film Classification Categories::
General: Movies for all ages shall be classified as general andare suitable for both adult and juvenile audiences.
Adult: Movies considered to be undesirable or of no interest to children shall be classified as Adult.
Restricted Adult: Movies considered to be morally objectionable to children shall be classified as Restricted Adult. Anyone under 18 years of age shall not be permitted to attend unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Special Category X: Movies which may be morally objectionable to all shall be classified as Special Category X and no person under 18 years of age shall be permitted to attend.
Screening fees:
Standard films, $5 per reel of original film; second, third and fourth copies $4 per reel and each additional print thereafter $2 per reel. Miniature films, $2 for each reel of 400ft. in length or less; additional prints, $1 per reel. Trailers, $1 for each film of less than 100 ft. in length; $2 for each film of not less than 100 ft. but less than 500 ft. in length; and $4 for each film of not less than 500 ft. or more than 1000 ft. inlength. All films intended for reissue after a period of 10 years from time of review shall be considered as new filmandshall besubject to further review.
Theatre Licences
In cities the annual fee for every theatre licence is $50 where the population is 10,000 or over, and $20 where the population is under 10,000.
In towns, villages or hamlets the annual fee for every theatre licence is $10.
In villages and rural municipalities atheatre licence may be issued for a period of three months for each of any of the periods ending March 31, June 30, September 30 or December 31 in each year, and the fee for such quarterly licence is one-quarter of the fee payable for an annual licence.
In cities and townsatheatrelicencemay be issued for a period of six months for each of the periods ending June 30and December 31 in each year, and the fee payable for each of such periods shall be one-half of the fee payable for an annual licence. Where an annual licence is issued after January 1 in any year and for a period not less than three months, the charge will be such proportion only of the licence fee as the number of days remaining between the date of the licence and December 31 bears to the licence fee for the whole year.
No rebate is allowed if the applicant for a licence has permitted public performances or other entertainments to be held in the theatre for which the licence is required prior to the date of a provincial licence.
In the case of a building only occasionally used as a theatre, or in the case of a special occasions licence, the licence fee is $2 per day, or $10 per week.
The licence fee payable for a drive-in theatre situated within a radius of 10 miles of any city having a population of 10,000 or over is $10 per month, or a maximum of $50 per season; and for a drive-in theatre situated within a radius of 10 miles of any city havinga population under 10,000, $4 per month, or a maximum of $20 per season.
Amusement Tax Municipalities have the option of imposing amusement taxes.
