Each fraction of a cent is counted as 1¢. Taxes on tickets are as follows: Up to 10¢—1¢; 11¢ to 20¢—2¢; 21¢ to 30¢—3¢; 31¢ to 40¢—4¢; 41¢ to 50¢—5¢; 51¢ to 60¢—6¢; 61¢ to 70¢—7¢; 71¢ to 80¢—8¢; 81¢ to 90¢— 9¢; 91¢ to $1—10¢; $1.01 to $2.00—add 10¢ to scale above; from $2.01 to $3—add 20¢ and so on. Holders of complimentary or season tickets, and every person admitted free into a place of amusement to attend or take part in amusement, shall pay the tax based on the Price of admission that would have been paid by the holders of such tickets. NEWFOUNDLAND Film Classification Movies exhibited in Newfoundland are those passed by the Film Classification Board of New Brunswick. There is no Board of Censors in Newfoundland. Entertainment Tax No entertainment tax is imposed by the Government of Newfoundland. The Entertainment Act, as administered by the provincial government, was revoked in September 1968. Taxes on places of entertainment, which include movie theatres, may be imposed by municipal authorities under the Local Government Act, Chap. 216, of the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland 1970. Licence Fees Under The Entertainment Act the annual licence fee to operate a movie theatre (place of entertainment) is $25. The same fee applies to drive-in theatres and non-resident operators. Entertainment Tax Where tax tickets are used the following applies: up to and including $1—no tax; over $1—10¢ for each dollar plus 5¢ for each additional 50¢ or fraction thereafter.
