Film Classification Current classification categories are:
“Family” — suitable for exhibition to children unaccompanied.
“Adult” — no admission to any person under the apparent age of 16 unless accompanied by parent or bona fide guardian.
“Adult — Not Suitable for Children” — same admission restrictions as for “Adult” classification. Not an official classification, serves as a warning to the parent.
“Restricted Adult” — no admission to any person under the apparent age of 18.
A child may be admitted to a theatre at which any motion picture is being shown if
(a) he is not more than three years of age, and
(b) he is accompanied by his parent.
Screening fees:
35mm: $4 per 1000 ft. or fraction thereof; second and third prints $3 per 1000 ft. or fraction thereof; fourth and subsequent prints $1 per 1000 ft. or fraction thereof. Trailers $1 each.
16mm: $2 for each 400 ft. or fraction thereof; additional prints $1 for each 400 ft. or fraction thereof.
Theatre Licences The licensing of theatres and projectionists is no longer required in the Province.
Amusement Tax There are no amusement taxes.

Categories:
For the information of the public, all films intended for public exhibition in Saskatchewan must indicate classification, and warnings if applicable, in all advertisements andat the theatre box office as follows:
“General” — movies suitable for all ages.
“Adult” — movies where parents may want to exercise discretion on behalf of children. However, all ages may attend. The movies may contain scenes of a mature nature requiring parental guidance.
“Restricted Adult” — movies where parents (not just an adult) must accompany those under 18 years of age. These films have a mature theme and may contain cruelty, violence, strong language or other scenes which may offend.
“Special X” — movies which no person under the age of 18 years may attend. The movies contain scenes which may be objectionable or offensive, and often contain explicit sexual or violent scenes.
“Warning Captions” — in addition to the classification, warning captions may be used — such as: Scenes may be offensive; Language may be offensive; Violence may be offensive; Not suitable for children.
