Underwood The Ontario Arts Council offers various forms of assistance in film areas to artists in the province, and the following brochures are available from its offices: Film Grants Filmmakers may apply for up to $25,000 for the production of original 16mm films. (Experimental films are adjudicated separately.) All applications must be supported by a 16mm film. Fulltime film students are not eligible. Writers may apply for up to $3,000 to write an original featurelength screenplay. Sponsors of film festivals, seminars or workshops may apply for funds to cover fees of visiting filmmakers to participate in workshops or to lead discussion groups and to cover a portion of administrative costs. Franco-Ontarian Grants Franco-Ontarian filmmakers may apply for up to $13,000 in two separate categories. 1) pre-production costs for short films 2) financial support for apprenticeship with a recognized professional filmmaker. Arts Education Grants A filmmaker wishing to work in a school is required to conceive the project, find a school and negotiate a fee.
