Aims and Objectives
(a) To unite the member Guilds and Unions in combined bargaining with common engagers of the members represented by the Guilds and Unions for the purpose of negotiating collective agreements.
(b) To co-ordinate the activity of the Guilds and Unions in seeking improved legislation and regulations that support the strengthening of a Canadian cultural industry and protect the job interests of the members of the Guilds and Unions in the Federation.
(c) To co-ordinate and unify mutually agreed upon specific organizational activity and services to members.
(d) To raise the standards of training and professional competence of the skills and talents of the categories of work represented by the Guilds and Unions in the Federation.

The Independent Film Alliance was formed in 1980 to provide a forum for exchange of information and ideas, and for the purpose of lobbying around issues of common interest to independent film and video makers, exhibitors, and distributors across Canada.

The Alliance publishes a bilingual quarterly journal, COMPOSITION, from its national office. The LF.A.ci. meets annually in May.
