ONWAY TEARLE, whose work as a featured player in recent First National pictures, such as “Lilies of the Field” and “The White Moth” has made him one of the most popular leading men of the screen, is to be co-featured with Colleen Moore in her next picture which, bears the tentative title of “Counterfeit.” ‘This will mark the first time Tearle has appeared with Miss Moore. “Innocence” Passed Without a Cut
Tribute to the delicacy and good taste with which C. B. C. Film Sales Corporation produces features, is given by the passing recently of “Innocence,’ a C. B. C. feature starring Anna Q. Nilsson, without a single cut by the National Board of Review.
The story, which tells of the conviction of a wife, on circumstantial evidence, of being untrue to her husband, is one which, in parts, calls for deft handling and treatment to prevent any trace of vulgarity, and still
' keep the strength of the original theme intact so that the message the story contained would not be lost in any degree.
This was handled so well by producer Harry Cohn and director Edward J. Le Saint, that it won strong praise instead of any hint of condemnation, and went through with flying colors.
Warner Pictures Made From Season’s Best Books Warner Bros. 1924-25 features are almost entirely from books that have been listed among the ‘“‘best sellers” during the past year or two. No producing company has made greater strides during the last year or two than Warner Bros. During the season just closing they issued 18 features, and there wasn't “a lemon” in the lot it is reported. ‘Their releases for the season about to open give every indication of being even better than this year, and they are worth the earnest consideration of every exhibitor in making up his lists for the new season. “The Perfect Flapper,” a current release.
“Counterfeit” is a story by LeRoy Scott. It gives Miss Moore the role of a temperamental young actress and Tearle the character of a lawyer interested in psychological research, who takes advantage of opporiunity to study the “dual personality” of the actress. The picture wil be one of First National's “Ten Dreadnaughts” to be issued -during the summer months. The release title of the picture has not as yet been decided.
Safe at “Christie Corners”
Director Harold Beaudine has begun filming a Christie Comedy which concerns the home life of a safecracker, as visualized by Christie’s prolific scenario department. Jimmie Adams is the featured comedian and the supporting cast is made up of Vera Steadman, Lincoln Plumer and to the Christie studio after completing Eddie Baker. he latter has returned a long-term contract with the Hal Roach organization.
“Chu-Chin-Chow” Regal’s English Feature Starring Betty Blythe
What promises to arouse considerable competition in booking is “ChuChin-Chow,” the picturization of the famous musical comedy which Regal Films will release early in the fall. Betty Blythe is starred in the picture and is supported by a cast of well known English players. It it claimed that “Chu-Chin-Chow” is one of the greatest productions of the 1924-25 season.
