IATSE Warns Against Inexperienced Help
The IATSE has issued a warning against the employment of inexperienced help in theatre jobs involving an element of risk. In the latest issue of its official bulletin the alliance declared that as a result of wartime manpower shifts ‘we should take every concelvable precaution to protect public life and property.” The warning was provoked by the alarming increase in USA theatre fires.

The popular veteran showman, who represented Riverdale Constituency, Toronto, in the recently-prorogued Ontario Legislature, is again the Progressive Conservative standard bearer in the forthcoming election. He served as alderman and controller in Toronto’s City Council for many years before becoming a member of the Ontario house in 1937. Billy Summerville is a partner with Sam Bloom and Sam Fine in the operation of several theatres in the eastern section of Toronto and a member of the Motion Picture Pioneers. His friends in the industry wish him every success at the polls on August 4th.
