Columbia's ‘The Impatient Years’ Offers Drama and Laughs STORY of wartime marriage, “The Impatient “™ Years” will have great appeal, for it deals with a common problem—that of the soldier who leaves right after the wedding. Columbia, however, has guaranteed its attraction power by inserting a considerable amount of comedy deftly handled by such experts as Charles Coburn and Jean Arthur. Lee Bowman is the soldier who marries Jean Arthur after a whirlwind courtship and then leaves for overseas. They decide to divorce on his return but Charles Coburn, Miss Arthur’s father, asks that it be set aside so that that couple can relive their four days of courtship. Of course, they recapture that first careless rapture — and provide much romance and comedy while seeking it. Edgar Buchanan, Charley Grapewin, Harry Dayenport, Grant Mitchell, Jane Darwell and Frank Jenks are part of a great supporting cast.
