Sold to Freedman
_ Niagara Centre Theatres Ltd., headed by Hy Freedman, which operates the Centre, St. Catharines, Ont., has _ purchased the Centre, Peterborough, from the Ulsters, Syd Goldstone and Mr. Greenberg. Deal is retroactive to July 2. Hilly Yuden, formerly of the Circle, Toronto, becomes managing director for Peterborough Centre Theatres.
Centre, Peterborough, was opened late in 1939 and seats 602. Freedman recently sold his theatre interests in six Ontario communities to Twinex and Famous Players.
To Sell Furnished Prefab Theatres
Fabrication and sale of prefabricated “theatres of tomorrow,” developed by National Theatres Amusement Company, a California concern, will be turned over to a new
company, soon to be organized, for sale to the industry. The
new organization will be entirely independent of National Theatres, according tg Charles P. Skouras, president of the NT circuit. Construction, decoration and equipment of the prefab houses planned by the Skouras interests will contain many innovations never before used. The entire structure is expected to cost about 40% less than present class A houses and it will be possible to buy a theatre completely furnished and equipped in every detail, including the front door (Continued on Page 2)
