Spector Handles Mono Publicity
Leu Spector has charge of publicity, promoticn and exploitation for Monogram. He will be located in home office, Toronto.
He resigned from CHML, Hamilton, with which he was engaged in the same capacity, to join Monogram.
Recently discharged from the army, his last film exploitation stint was for “The True Glcry,” having been assigned to that by military authorities.
He’s a nice lad and will be welcomed by the industry.

Suggest Examination Of Music Tariff
The Copyright Appeal Board, which had been studying the worth of requesting that a Royal Commission be appointed to investigate the whole matter of copyright music in Canada, has decided that such procedure would be too
expensive and has dropped the idea for another.
It will, however, request the right ‘to call to its aid in an advisory capacity the services of any person having technical or special knowledge of the matters in question’ and that salary and travelling expenses be approved by the Secretary of State, the Honorable Paul Martin, KC.
It was made public at the same time that the tariffs applied in 1945 to theatres, radio stations and other users of copyright music would be repeated in 1946.

One of the speakers at the Eagle-Lion sessions was Archie J. Laurie, managing director of Eagle-Lion in Canada, who reviewed difficulties in the exhibition and distribution of British films in the past and reported that remarkable progress had been accomplished in overcoming them.

'A YANK IN LONDON’ IS FRIENDLY
Celebrating the friendship and common ancestral bond of Canada, the USA and England will be the two-country premiere of “A Yank in London,” to be held on April 30 in theatres in Niagara Falls, New York, and Ontario.
English brides married to Canadian and American residents of both Niagara Falls will meet during a special ceremony on Rainbow Bridge, which connects both countries. School cadets, a kiltie band, a color corps and civic officials
from both communities will participate in the doings, which will be shot by the newsreels.
The event is getting international publicity through radio, newspapers and press services. Correspondents will be on hand.
Harry Painter has resigned as Asscciated Theatres, Toronto, October, 1945, and has joined
Irvin (Babe) Coval, Montreal branch manager for Warner Brothers, has been placed in charge of the Toronto branch following the resignation of Sam Pearlman, it has been announced by Haskell M. Masters, general manager
of the Canadian district.
Pearlman, who succeeded Joe Plottel when the latter withdrew in July, 1945, had been considering resigning for some time in favor of other plans, it is known, but states that he is not in a position to make them public as yet. It is understood that he will not remain with Warners, which company he joined in Calgary in 1934, returning there from Montreal in 1943 to succeed the late Lou Geller.
