Cowan, Laurie To Rank Interests

James A. Cowan, whose agency has been handling the Rank interests as a leading client, will head advertising and public relations under the new arrangement, while Archie Laurie becomes director of publicity and public relations on the exhibition level, he being concerned with the theatres’ part in marketing UK and USA films to the public.
Both Cowan and Laurie, whose appointments became effective on March ist, will have offices at 431 Yonge Street when the premises are ready.
Director of advertising for Odeon Theatres is Larry Graburn, who continues in that position, his department not being directly affected.
The new setup when completed will serve in various ways the different Rank companies, such as Odeon Theatres (exhibition), Eagle-Lion Films of Canada (distribution), -Gaumont Kalee (equipment), Queensway Studios (production), and Hanson 16 Mm. Movies.
J. Arthur Rank is expected in New York this week and may come to Canada shortly.
