It is hoped that Juvenile Pic Library Talked Over Here Canada may have a children’s film library like the one sponsored by the Motion Picture Association of America in the United States. Mrs. Margery Dawson, chairman of the American library, participated in several meetings with IODE representatives and others interested in establishing the plan in Canada. Scene of the meetings was the office in Toronto of the Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association. _ Films used are old subjects specially selected. MPAA Issues Report On Canadian Plan Broader information about the Canadian Co-operation Project of the Motion Picture Association of America, un dertaken earlier this year, is provided in the “First Hollywood Report to the Canadian Government.” This booklet contains the names of those who attended the first meeting in Ottawa and the discussion that took place at it. Copies were sent to all who are connected with the project, about which there has been a limited amount of public information. Gordon Wilson Dead After Brief Illness Gordon Malcolm Wilson, manager of the contract department of Empire-Universal Films, died in Toronto recently at the age of 32 after a brief illness. Born in England, he came to Canada in 1921 and had been with the film firm for the past 16 years, during which time he made many friends. Surviving are his widow, the former Mary Kathleen Stantial; two daughters, Joan and Carol; a brother, Ivan Wilson; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Spencer. A PAIR. OF F ACES for A FULL HOUSE! Theatre admissions and film (Continued on Page 3) "South Of St. Louis’ Alexis Smith and Joel McCrea will star in United States Pictures’ Technicolor production, “South of St. Louis.” AUDIO PIX VIA MONO, COLUMBIA World-wide release by Monogram will be given three fulllength feature films to be produced by Audio Pictures, while Columbia will do the same with six short subjects from the Canadian company, which is at present adding another sound stage to its large new studios near Toronto. Two or more of the short subjects will be ready for fall release. Film shoti by a camera crew in the NW Territories is being flown in, and it will shooti four shorts for private distribution by the Canadian National Railways while there. Canadian and Hollywood personnel will work together on the feature films. Audio’s plans to make the features and shorts were set before the Motion Picture Association of America undertook its Canadian Co-operation Project. Leonard R. Case New SRO Treasurer Leonard R. Case, formerly assistant treasurer of the Selznick Releasing Organization, has been promoted to treasurer by the company’s board of directors. Neil F. Agnew, president, also stated that henceforth the finances of Vanguard Films, Incorporated, will be handled entirely separate and distinct from those of SRO. "Sand' Stars Named Mark Stevens and Peggy Cummins will star in 20th-Century Fox’ production of Will James’ “Sand.” Re-issued to BIG Rogell To Produce "Song Of India’ Columbia Pictures and Albert Rogell have concluded an agreement under the terms of which Rogell will produce and direct “Song of India” for Columbia. The original screenplay is by Art Arthur and Jerome Odlum. Turhan Bey and Sabu are the male stars and Gail Russell has the feminine lead. Bey and Sabu portray two of India's princely rulers, educated in the occident, who struggle to bring enlightenment to their country now that independence has been achieved.
