The poem is called Wealth. I hope you find it worth reading: A calm devotion to one’s native sod, That’s wealth; A faith implicit in the Living God, That’s wealth; A few choice friends, who feel life’s fuller meaning, Who sense reality, yet prize the dreaming, Who from the skies see knowledge ever streaming, That’s wealth! A body sparkling with the health of youth, That’s wealth; A mind serenely poised, restrained by truth, That’s wealth; An eye that feeds on flowers and fields and skies, That sees the Heaven in a baby’s eyes, That finds in life the door to Paradise— That’s wealth. A home among the trees, the blue above, That’s wealth; The sense to grin when all the world looks wrong, To take defeat with gameness and a song, To smile a mile when worry comes along, That’s wealth! LARA RAPA RASS PA SADA RS SARA RASA RASA SA PARA RA SARA A E Sixties started in a ra ther dull fashion in our business. Generally attendances at motion picture theatres were down and, of course, profits suffered accordingly. Many other businesses have been affected in similar ways. We are prone to blame our troubles as much on the lack of good boxoffice attractions as on the sagging economy. In retrospect it would appear that for the average theatre there were not as many good attractions available in 1960 as in the previous year. One of the causes of this was the actors’ strike in Hollywood which resulted in a general spacing out of releases. The outlook for this coming year seems to be considerably better both in quantity and quality. While it is in the nature of our business to be cheerful and optimistic about the future, there would seem to be reasonably good cause for such an attitude at this time. It is, then, on this pleasant note that we take this opportunity to wish our many good friends in the business, in both near and distant places, our very sincere compliments of the season and the best of all good things in the New Year.
