Set $750,000 Campaign For ‘The Love Bug’’
A $750,000 sales promotion involving Nabisco shredded wheat products, Walt Disney’s family feature, The Love Bug, and the Famous Players circut will for the next few months cross-promote cereal products and the ~ film in stores and Famous theatres across the country.
The -Love Bug theme will be — aimed at youngsters particularly through Shreddies packaging which will contain an _ elasticpowered plastic car, the inducement being to collect a set of 12 miniature racers, three different types in four different colors.
Shredded Wheat packaging meanwhile will bear an entry form aimed at the adult audience —a Love Bug contest for a Volkswagen 1500 each month for five — months, plus 100 VW _ pedalwagons and 1,000 steel miniature VW’s for kids.
For the energetic FP manager, the tie-in should generate a lot of business on the strength of point-of-sale display materials advertising the picture. At the same time, cereal products sales | should get a lift from appropriate displays in theatre lobbies where The Love Bug is playing.
