His vocal talent may be attributed in part to his Welsh ancestry, for theirs is a great heritage of song. And Allan Jones (born Teddy Jones) grew up in a true Welsh atmosphere. He was raised in Scranton, Penn¬ sylvania, where his father, Daniel (who possessed an un¬ usual voice himself), worked as a mine superintendent. There was always singing for the young Teddy — singing with the men as they walked to and from work, sing¬ ing in the pits, singing just for the joy of it. He was launched on his career by friends and fellow workers of his father. It was evident that the young boy had an exceptional gift — but something had to be done about its development. A concert in Scranton was arranged — and this was the first important step. It was a huge success, and with the proceeds, the young boy was able to go to Europe for study. He returned to the United States as soloist with the blew York PhilharmonicSymphony Orchestra and his career thus began in earnest. Shortly after this, he was signed by M-G-M for his first picture — and his film debut caused an overnight sensation. Today, this handsome American artist, firmly established as one of the country's fop performers, is at the peak of his singing career!
