Born at Woodland, Cal., Crawford was left to the early care of a group of nuns who taught him the rudiments of music. Arriving of age, he left the orphanage to take a job as pianist in a movie. Then followed a long series of theatre engagements. Presently Crawford turned to the organ, of which he proved such a master that he was soon called upon to play in a great Chicago theatre. Finally he was asked to take his present position at the Paramount. For coloring, novelty and individuality Jesse Crawford, like his Victor records, has few peers and certainly no superiors.
