THIBAUD, JACQUES, Violinist (Tee-boh’, Zhack) Jacques Thibaud is one of the greatest living exponents, at the violin, of French music and French tradition— to which he adds a well-deserved authority as an interpreter of Mozart and the “classics” generally. He has often been heard in the United States, and with fine success. For the Schubert Trio, see under Cortot. THE THIBAUD RECORDS No. Size List p. He studied with Dupuy and with Basil Ruysdael, and for eight or nine years sang in church, concert and light opera. Coming to New York, he was engaged by the Metropolitan Company. He memorized Italian réles before he knew the precise meaning of the words. Cast for the réle of Ford at a revival of Verdi’s Falstaff, . a riot of applause broke forth for him at the end of the 7 TIBBETT second act. Since then he has mastered, and triumphed in, other réles. His voice is rich, powerful and marvellously expressive, and his stage presentations are splendidly vivid and human. | (3rd Movement) Mozart 6746 12 2.00 THE TIBBETT RECORDS No. Size List p.
