B. Southworth in private life, was bornin the West, and received her first vocal instruction from Hattie Sims, of Denver, Colorado, who was in turn a pupil of Marchesi. Later she studied in Paris with Jacques Bouhy, the celebrated Belgian baritone. She has been very successful as a soprano in the United States, and particularly in making Victor records, which may be said to be an art in itself. Elizabeth Spencer has a son who promptly joined the engineers as soon as the United States entered the Great War, and perhaps because of that she was particularly active singing at © the various war camps, where she was a great favorite with the troops. Some of the songs she used on these occasions are here recorded. _ SPENCER _ SPENCER RECORDS Blue Bird 18452 | Perfect Day 18250 For Duets see Home, Sweet Home 16663 Star-Spangled Banner 18338 If You Look 18452 In the Gloaming 16405 Where the Morning 18403 Let the Rest of World 18638 Love’s Dream 18250 SPENCER, JANET, Contralto—See “Spencer” in Red Seal Catalog Sphinx Waltz (Popy) Victor Corset 16484|10) .75 Song of the Soul (Breil) Violoncello Yaska Bunchuk .
