VICTOR RECORDS (aes Dat Chicken Pie (Dumont) The Preacher and the Bear (Arzonia) BAKER, ELSIE, Contralto Elsie Baker comes of a Philadelphia musical family. She began at the piano as a child, then studied singing under various teachers, including Oscar Saenger. Unlike most singers, she believed the true school for the American voice was in the church, where she had wide experience. She has made lengthened tours in concert and oratorio, and had many triumphs. She has been at the head of her own company, touring the United States from coast to coast. Her Number Collins and Harlan Arthur Callnat Baer aly fo Victor records, made either alone or in collaboration with other artists, have won her an enviable place in American musical life.
