Mr. Witherspoon is a singer of intelligence, with a voice and style of unusual beauty. He has an impressive stage presence, distinguished bearing and much personal magnetism. His voice is of ample range, exceptionally well schooled, noble in guality, and he is a master in the art of phrasing. Mr. Witherspoon has made a number of records for the Victrola, every one of which has been contributed in masterly fashion. He made his opera début in the United States, but soon extended his triumphs into Europe. His records have covered a wide range of music; his cosmopolitan tastes, born of knowledge, have led many less experienced artists into unexpected roads of song and unexpected discoveries and achievements. He always, nevertheless, has been a stout champion of the English song, which he has interpreted with vigor and with spirit. His record list contains examples of his successes in this field, as well as in the less familiar domains of oratorio and opera. THE WITHERSPOON RECORDS (Sung in English) Arm, Arm, Ye Brave!
