We use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) during our scanning and processing workflow to make the content of each page searchable. You can view the automatically generated text below as well as copy and paste individual pieces of text to quote in your own work.

Text recognition is never 100% accurate. Many parts of the scanned page may not be reflected in the OCR text output, including: images, page layout, certain fonts or handwriting.

THE SAINTS AT WORK movies than ever before. "Never before in Virginia," cries the board, "have there been so many deletions, either of scenes or subtitles. This means that the pictures which did offend, in many cases were objectionable or offensive in several particulars. Some were subjected to six or eight cuts, others to even more." The Board very courteously refuses to take all the credit for this enviable record of its banner business year. It devotes a paragraph to acknowledging its volunteer help. "The members of this division again take the occasion to express their sense of obligation to the corps of volunteer inspectors assisting them in the various cities and towns of the state. These unselfish assistants who work without compensation and often at great inconvenience to themselves, never fail to respond to an emergency call. Furthermore, they exercise constant vigilance in their efforts to prevent the exhibition of unlicensed pictures, and to see that deleted films displayed outside of Richmond have been 'cut' in accordance with instructions by this department." 25
