THE BISHOP OF HOLLYWOOD His career bears testimony to the real nature of his ambitions and ideals. Born in Sullivan, Indiana in 1879, he became a politician before he was of age. The thin-legged, large-eared boy started to study Blackstone at the tender age of ten. He was admitted to the bar when he was twenty-one, having previously graduated from Wabash College. The year before he had been made a Republican precinct committeeman. In 1908 he had reached the offices of the State Committee. He practiced law in the firm of Hays & Hays and was active in Indiana politics in the Republican party for ten years. He was involved in the fantastic financial pastimes of the Harding administration. He has been with the movies since 1922. He lives in the Ritz Tower, has offices in New York and Chicago and likes to pay flying visits to Sullivan to show the boys he is still a plain Indiana citizen, but he hates to stay very long doing it. He was divorced for incompatibility last year after twenty-seven years of married life. He is an omnivorous joiner. We list his clubs and past offices. Motion Picture Pro 133
