ee AATON 16 / Super 16 The Adton.7 LTR is well known for its excellent image quality in the standard 16 mm format; it is not surprising then that it is the natural choice for those shooting Super 16 for blow-up to 35. Super 16 possibility was designed into the LTR right from the start, which is an advantage no other 16 mm camera today can boast of. In 1/1.66 image format, Super 16 provides 40% more image surface than does standard 16; the consequent gain in quality is considerable. And in simple economics, the advantage is clear : 75% saving on rawstock, and 50% saving on post-production, compared to shooting original 35 mm. The increased mobility of a truly handheld camera (the LTR weighs about 6 kilos with film and on-board battery) is also a plus for Super 16. Setting the LTR up for Super 16 is an easy job : change of aperture plate and viewing screen, and adjustment of the lens holder optical center. It takes about an hour, including fine adjustments and testing.
