Sin intención tampoco de dedicarse a la pantalla se hallaba de vacaciones en California y se preparaba a regresar a los pocos días de nuevo a Chicago, cuando Carl Laemmle la vió bailando una noche en uno de los Clubs aristocráticos de Hollywood. belleza y por las posibilidades artísticas que en ella adivinó, se hizo presentar y le rogó que se prestara a una prueba cinematográfica. Aceptó ella, pero sin querer cancelar su billete du regreso para el Este, convencida de antemano del fracaso. Pero como la prueba resultó un éxito se quedó definitivamente en Hollywood con un contrato en el estudio. Ha tomado parte ya en varias películas, entre las que recordamos “Three Kids and a Queen,” “Magnificent Obsession,” “His Night Out” y “Dangerous Waters.” Avanza con seguro paso por el camino del arte y no tardará en ocupar el puesto destacado que le corresponde. La otra promesa de RKO, Harriet Hilliard, realizó impensadamente uno de sus más caros sueños al hacer su aparición en la pantalla figurando como hermana de Ginger Rogers—la artista a quien más admira—en la película “Follow the Fleet.” La hemos visto después en “New Faces of 1938” y en “Life of the Party,” con Gene Raymond. Basta con que recordemos su labor en estas películas para que estemos seguros de su triunfo definitivo. La constelación que ahora estamos observando a través del lente, tiende a desintegrarse en esta ocasión para quedar destacada cada una de sus partes en la categoría de planetas fijos.
