Phillips, proprietor and manager of Phillips' Lyceum, Brooklyn, N. Y., has the following sent to us : "With reference to our telephone conversa- tion Saturday morning concerning the ar- ticle published In another paper last week, I wish, on behalf of Louis A. Phillips, to em- phatically deny h!s contemplated closing at stated. "Phillip* Lyceum Theatre, established since 1880, has been recognized as the oldest stock house in Brooklyn, and has alwaja held Its own In popularity and attendance In spite of the many new theatres now located In Its vicinity. "We will admit that Mr. Phillips has been 111, but only for a week, with a toneh at pneumonia. Through what aouree that paper secured such Information or by what right they published same, without first consulting; the management of the theatre, they cannot eipliln. Such write-ups hare a tendency to disorganize and cause discontent among plaj- ers. Very respectiolly, Louis A. Phillips, par Paul H. wolf, Treasurer." a Cameron Stock Closes. The Agnes Cameron Stock Co., who have bten "at home" in the Tremont Theatre, New York City, brought to aa end their two years' run at that house Feu. 24, under the most nattering and auspicious eirenmstaaces, for the "send off" tendered Mits Cameron and her players was genuine and heartfelt. In fact, the entire closing week was a gala. one, and numerous Moral tlibntes were the rule at each performance. Bnt the climax Jras reached Saturday night, when, just be- ore the final curtain, Bfttte Burke, the co- median of the company, stepped to the foot' lights to say a few wordB to the friends "In front." This was the signal for the cosn- piny and the entire audience to go into Joint social session, for in response to the fare- well words of the actor, several members of the audience arose in turn, and their well chosen words of good-bye and god-speed ex- pressed the kind feelings of the patrons an* the high esteem in which the players were heir). The principals who remained during the entire engagement were: Agnes Cameron. Blllle Burke, Ger&ldlne McCann and Jack Chandler. a Dalley's New Stock Co. Thurston, E.
