Mr. Dayton has written several beautiful pieces, Howard Missiheii, a great favorite of Essanay's Eastern Stock Co., nearly put a proprietor of a barber shop into bankruptcy. It happened like this: Nlsslmer was called upon to play the part of a young traveling salesman. It was necessary to darken his white bair with a preparation called mascaro. This turned bU hair a dark brown. He calmly walked into a barber shop and requested the management of the tonsorlal department to give aim a shampoo. The proprietor, not noticing anything unusual about his cus- tomer's head, showered It with shampoo and started to work. In the next minute every- thing in tho barber shop was completely cov- ered with a very dark brown lather. After using about half of Lake Michigan and a supply of towels from a neighborhood hotel, Mlsslmcr was turned Into a dashing young blond. Misslmer refuses to tell what this operation cost him.
