<\ v' 14 THE .-NEW" YO-RK: OIjIBPER. Masch 1 NEW VAUDEVILLE ACTS "Arcadia." Colonial, Matinee, Feb. 21. Loogtellow begins bis well known, poem, "Still stands the forest primeval." Wo can- not so; that there Is any originality In B. A. Uoifc's new offering. But Mr. Bolfe has i lie faculty of producing bit sketches and musics) offering* In first class style, and surely this one will take its place among his other successes. There Is no attempt to tell a story. Tho name Is evidently chosen because there Is nothing that la not pleasant and Joyful In the production. The scenery, which is most attractive, pictures the porch aiid garden of a Summer home. There Is a cast of eleven people, four of whom are young women, and all of whom are musical. HckIucb selections on brnsn there ore somo pretty scenes between a tenor and one of the joung women. Home neat dancing and pleasing singing are offered by theie two. A cornet solo, by Chas. Edwards, is also a speedily. The act ts closed with a medley of popu- lar airs, sung by the young man and wnmin, nccotnpanlcd by another young woman, who tnkes the place of the house orchestrn leader, the re.it of tbe company ncompan.vtnn; them on horns. A very pleasing offering that holds tbe stage for twenty-five minutes. Boo. t PAV TEMPI/ETON. Hammeratcln'a, Monday Evening;, Feu. 24. Perhaps after tho warm welcome extended her lu vaudeville Miss Tcmpleton will re- consider her determination to retire. In a simple black gown she opened with a song about fishing, This was followed by one with a title something like "I'm Stouter Than I Have Been Still I'm Thinner Than I Wns." It wns not a great surprise when she sang her old favorite, "Goodbye, Mary," but It was a mirprlse when a chorus of ten young men and women appeared to join In the pinging. It seemed very much Hko the old days of "Forty-five Minutes from Broadway." As on encore Miss Tcmpleton sang her old Weber & Welds' Music Hall success, "Itosle." She was one solid hit Eighteen minutes, on full stage. Voo. i Owen MeOlwcney, In "Bill Sykes." Colonial, Matinee, Feb. 24, In a quick change sketch, taken from rjlckni8' ''Oliver Twist," Owen MeOlvcney iprovcd himself a wonder. Indeed, more than one In the audience gave voice to the thought 1 lint It was Impossible for one man to por- tray Ihe number of characters In the rapidity In which It was done. The particular part of Dickens' work used Is that In which Bill Sykes kills JSancy. The causes leading up to the murder arc given In different char- acters before the crime. The last scene shows Sykes escaping through n window. MeOlvcney nlnys the parts of Monks, Fagan, the Artful Dodger, Nancy and Bill Sykes In a truly wonderful fashion. Twenty-two min- utes. Intherlor totting. In full. Boo. i The Two Joulcys, Colonial, Matinbb. Ki:d. 24. This team, two In number, will hare no trouble getting time. On full stage they give nn athletic balancing exhibition that Is commendable chiefly by tho work of the un- der man, who Is possessed of an abnormally strung neck. On his forehead ho balances several different length nickel stanchions on Ihe other end of which the other man bal- ances himself head dowuward. The under man does not use a pad of any kind, and tho marks made hy the stanchions may easily be seen. Tho act makes a good opener. Eight minutes, full stage.
