B. E. Wallace Is quoted as saying hat wrecks, storms, fires, etc, never put him out of business, and that floods can't. Uncle Ben always was a fighter. Mr fbibhd, Bob Louis, has the happy faculty of choosing choice spots for the fin mar Twins. Returning recently from Cuba, where the Twins played to big busi- ness in Havana, Bob has arranged to present them with the (tingling Bros.' World's Great- est Shows as a feature attraction ln the annex during the Coliseum engagement to Chicago. Following this the Samar Twins will be with the Herbert A. Kline ShowB, which open early next month. It's all right, fellers. Capt. John .White has reported In Chicago, and is on the door at the Coliseum during the Rlngllng Bros.' engagement. To tell the truth, the Rlngllng Show In Chicago without Capt. John ln evi- dence would not be complete. Upon the close of the Rlngllng engagement in Chicago Capt White will join the Gollmar Bros.' Circus as superintendent of the main en- trance, a position which he has filled for a number of years. As the result of the flood in Indiana and Ohio, there will be a shifting of circus routes. The Rlngllng Show was to open its road tour at Zanesvllle, 0., and play a few stands between there and Washington, D. C. The No. 1 advertising car has not left Chi- cago when this 1b written, and Just what changes ln the routing of the Rlngllng Show ore contemplated has not been determined. Keep your eyes on Fred Buchanan. As the proprietor of the Yankee Robinson Cir- cus. Fred has made a wonderful record ln bnildtog up an organization which this sea- ion, according to George Meahan, the general agent, who was a C. B. C. in Chicago last week, says will be one of the best of its calibre to this country. The Yankee Robin- eon Show will open the season at Ferry, la. a prosperous one. -more seems to be a gen' eral feeling of confidence In the new ad- ministration, and the money market Is easy. Everybody is working and there is plenty of money to be spent for amusements. Alto- gether, there arc no clouds to the financial sky. Appreciating this condition, the tent showmen have enlarged their organizations and have spent a world of money on added equipment. There will, of course, be some very spirited opposition this season, but competition 1b the life of trade, and the fight of the tent show factions will have a tendency to force a high standard or effi- ciency and Insure splendid entertainment for the masses. As predicted in this department of Tub New 1'okk Clu'peh, the men who are iden- tified with the carnival branch of entertain- ment have recognized the necessity of making their organizations representative to every nay. The season of 1913 looks good for the carnival business, and while there is sure to be more or less rivalry ln this field of amuse- ment endeavor, the carnival men have learned the lessen that dignified competition, free from questionable opposition methods, ls a benefit. Hundreds of thousands of dollars neve been expended by the projectors of car- nival entertainment ln the way of high class equipment, special attractions and features. Solly Wisb was a very much worried man when the flood struck Peru. It really looked for a while as though the trained canaries would not act up with TJncle Ben this season. Postcard greetings have reached me from H. H. Tammen, mailed from, Honolulu, March 21, on his way to China and Japan for a few weeks' recreation with Mrs. Tam- men. Mr. Tammen writes that he has seen lots ot new circus things and that he ls glad that he ls making the trip. He will return to the United States May 10. More than an ordinary degree of interest be a fool for anybody, now. Don't hesitate. Don't pro- crastinate. Idleness and success are not on speaking terms. Success la the crowning glory of persistent and well directed effort. CLOSER TEAR A BROTHER* Ion may dine on raw onions, Consume lemon peel, And on cougbdrops and peanuts You may make a meal. Well, the sandwich will cost yon $1,00. Thursday, April 24, and will be transported to being evinced by showmen ln the \oung on twenty-two cars. I can rememher the time whon Fred Buchanan switched his show from wagons to the cars, and I vividly recall a remark he made to me at that time: "dome- body has got to take the place of the big ones ln the circus business some day, and I am going to be that fellow." Well,. If the showing that Fred has made during the past ten years can be taken as an Indication of what he Intends to accomplish in the future, there ls no telling where he will land. Ac- cording to General Agent Meahan, the Yankee llobtoaon Circus this season is thoroughly equipped and spick and span, ready for a tour which promises to be the most sutoess- fui in the history of the show. And the beauty of it ls Fred Buchanan owns It all. It would appear that Buchanan believes to the axiom that there is no disgrace ln failure, but to fail' to strive is a crime. He ls a natural born showman and Is bound to play an Important part to the circus world, of which he is a representative factor. At. RuioLiNO, the mnBtcr molder of circus arenlc entertainment, put ln a strenuous ses- sion last week In Chicago making ready the Buffalo Wild West and Cummins' Far East Show, which ls to open In Peoria, 111., late this month. Vernon C. Beaver, "The wlttle Napoleon" of Western amusements, has been rather secretive and has not seen fit to divulge the frame-up for 1013. Thoroughly Imbued with the new Chicago eplrlt, "Where 'We Will' There's a Way," It ls to be pre- sumed that Governor fieaver will put on some show, and it may be taken for granted that he will not overlook many bets. Col. W. W. Cochrane attended the open- ing of the Barnum & Bailey Show at Madi- son Square Garden, New York City, returned to Chicago to witness the rehearsals of the Rlngllng Bros.' Circus at the Coliseum, and left for Philadelphia Wednesday, 2, to attend the opening of the Two Bills' Show, expect-. Ing to get back to Chicago ln time for the Rlngllng opening in Chicago, Saturday. April 5. Wallle rertatoly does get a whole lot out of life.
