At Memphis, Tenn., on Sept. 23, the Barnum A Bailey Circus Co., at 10.80 in the morning, obtained an Instanter Injunction agtlnat the mayor tnd commissioners of Memphis, and W. J, Hays, chief of police, restraining there from interfering with the parade or show In any manner. Humors tbat city officials contemplated some action as a result of the show going there during Ibe Trl State Fair, led the circus company to ob- tain an injunction. Thos. M. Scruggs represented the circus people before Judge Jacob 8. Gsllowty, who Issued the order. Tbe complainants recited that they had paid the required license tax levied by the city. Charles M. Bryau, city attorney, got a copy of the Injunction at once. ''We won't do Earthing," said he, on behalf ot the city, "because Judge Galloway, Issuing it, put it to tbe October rule. By tint time the show will be gone, and out of this territory." Tbe Injunction bill was styled "Rtrnum ft Bailer, Greatest Show on Earth, Samuel Mc- cracken, manager, against the elty of Memphis and W. J. Bays, chief of police."
