Owned and managed by K. Q. Barkoot. The Tropical Amusement Co. bad Its Inception at tbe jloslng of the season of the K. G. Barkoot World's Oreatest Shows at Kuoxvllle, Tenn.. Nov. 1, 1018, and is therefore one of the youngest of America's traveling tented organisations. Its success, bow- ever, has slways been assured, the magic name of Ilarkoot being sufficient to convince show patrons that tbe new enterprise is the clean, well regu- lated aggregation Its silvertlsing claims. After staying with the new company a few weeks, Mr. Barkoot left for on extensive Oriental tour, leaving the Interests of the show to he looked after by F. The tint sir boat line to be put In operation ta that Inaugurated at St. Petersburg, Fla., Jsn. 1. The boat Is controlled by the Benaolt Com- pany, of St. Louis, and It Is tbe intention of the company to carry pssaengen dally, from Bt. l'stenburg to Tamps, Fla., distance of eighteen miles. It is more than a two hour Ball, but the air boat make* It lu nineteen minutes. In aa much as It was the lint experience of Its kind, tbe honor of being tbe flrat passenger (the bonl only carrying one passenger besides the pilot) was eagerly sought sfter. It was finally decided to auction, publicly, the flrst few rides, Tbe bidding was hot between ex-Mayor Phell and nnd Mitchell, the sand man, for tbe flnt ride, and Johnny J. Jones and Mitchell, for the second ride. Ex-Mayor Phell won the first ride, and Johnny J. Jones, the famous carnival manager, the second. The boat will make two trips dally. and reservations having been engaged for over two months In advance. In the near future the company Intends to pat on a larger boat, carrying four passengen and a limit of two hundred pouadj of baggage.
