Considerable Interest Is being exhibited by. those who have followed the beaten path of «ninstrci>>y , ln dn InnoTatlon contemplated by Al. 0. .Field, namely, the presentation of a minstrel entertainment in the form of a mu- sical comedy. There will not be much of a plot, but the program will be continuous. All the specialties, songs, etc., will be there just the same, but there will be an entire abcence of old time methods that amateurs iiave made common. ' All' the acts will be In the nature of scenic productions, with old time negro comedy as the basis. The Field show has drifted In this direction for a number of years, there- fore It is not a violent departure from tra- ditions. As Mr. Field seems to have profited by tho changes he has made In mlnstrelBy, he probably has duly considered the matter. However, many are awaiting the result of this departure. John Cartmell, who will have entire charge of the company as stage director, is In New York superintending the finishing of tho wardrobe, nropcrtlea, etc., will leave for Co- lumbus In July, where rehearsals will shortly begin. The scenery and everything necessary for the launching of next season s production, is in readiness. The opening will bo In the East, probably Burlington. Vt. . <» * . NBW TIIBATRB IN MOBBISTOWN. Antonio SsposUa has completed plana for the erection of a new theatre building In tho rear of Mi present theatre on Specdwe'l Avenue, Morrlstown, N. J. Entrance to the new building- which Ig to have a seutlng ca- pacity of 1,700, will be through the present theatre building. The proscenium arch will be 32 z 10 feet la dimensions. The balcony end gallery are to be reached by Indepcrdent stairways, one on each, side of the theatre entrance, .
