All of the big men in tbe business are out of town, taking well earned vacations. Announcement was made last week that J. Fred Zimmerman will inaugurate new policies at two of his houses next season, the Liberty, at Broad and Columbia Avenue, and the Orpheum on Chel- ten Avenue, Germantown. Both of these bouses, which have tried alternately moving pictures, vaudeville and stock productions, will play traveling combinations booked by Stair & Havlln. B. F. Keith's (H. T. Lara- bba, In a clever dancing net, was tho feature of the olio. Joe Rose furnished plenty of laughs in the burlesque, while Harry Smith, a bantam weight, met all comers In four round bouts. Willow Grovb Park (J ,R. Da vies, mgr.) —Creatore and his band received a big wel- come last week from crowds of phenomenal size. There were out of town excursions and picnics each day to augment the regu- lar attendance. The amusements hod the best week of the season so far. • Woodsidh Park (Wm. C. Martin, mgr.) —This resort, which is reached after a de- lightful ride through Falrmount Park, con- tinues to attract immense throngs. Carl Schroeder's Band furnishes delightful pro- grams. Alexander's Band starts an engage- ment 28. Point Breeze Pauk (Stetser Bros., mgrs.) —Patronage was hlg last week. A feature that Is very popular Is the dancing pavilion, with Curclo's Orchestra. The Whirl of Fun, tbe Switchback rnd the dozen other amuse- ments are being well patronized. Bijou, Allegheny, Franklin, Plaza, Victoria. Stanley, alhambra and Palace give vaudeville and moving pictures. NOTES. GBOROn W. Metzel, business manager of the WH'iam Penn, Is vacationing In Atlantic City. At tub same resort is H. Bart Mcllugh, the booking agent. The Central Theatre Co. purchased last week the two brownstone mansions at the Southeast corner of Broad and Dauphin Streets, as a site for a vaudeville and mov- ing picture theatre. The plans provide for a one-story lireproof stiucture on a lot 40 by 150 feet, wltb a seating capacity of 1.20U. Tbe project, Including the land, will require an outlay of $75,000. Just below this site, at Nos. 2200-11 North Broad Street, another moving picture house will bo built for the P.iue Beard Amusement Co. The lot measures 40 by 125 feet. The theatre will have a 500 seating capacity, and will cost $10,000. The moving picture house at Nos. 1710-12-14 -Susquehanna Avenue, measuring 50 by 120 feet, has teen sold by tbe .Snwjue- hanna Amusement Co. to Green A Altman for a nominal consideration, subject to a $40,000 mortgage.
