"Country Night," with city life, opened the State's Cabaret. Monday evening Sept. 14, under tbe personal guidance of Jack Steroad, a well known theatrical man of Chicago. The cafe was beautifully decorated for this gala occasion, and all who were there were wined and dined until tbo wee hours of the morning. Many prominent vaudeville artists and other's theatrically In* cllned. attended this festival. Telegrams were received by Mr. Stcrnad from various managers throughout the country, Tbo first to be called upon of the professionals, after the cabaret, to entertain, were Jack Wilson and Charles King, of Brlce and King. Aa these acts were appearing at tho Majestic and Palace Theatres, during the week, it was impossible for them to entertain, on ac- count of Orphcuin Circuit rules. A round of applause was given to both, after Mr. Wil- son's address.
