LONDON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
In 1932 the London Philharmonic Orchestra was created by Sir Thomas Beecham to be placed at the service of both the Royal Philharmonic Society . and the Covent Garden. This orchestra, a body of players comparable with the finest on the Continent or in the United States, has achieved a universal reputation for its sensitive string section and excellent wood winds. Many conductors have presided recurrently over the London Philharmonic, but Sir Thomas Beecham has remained its chief and guiding light. Under his ministrations, as well as under the batons of Felix Weingartner and others, the London Philharmonic Orchestra has magnificently performed many outstanding works for Columbia.
