MORGAN, DENNIS (Tenor)
Dennis Morgan was born Stanley Morner at Prentice, Wisconsin, in 1910. His father, a banker and lumberman, owned a series of logging camps where his son worked out during the summer months. At Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin, he was a star athlete and at the same time he became soloist of the Carroll College Glee Club. After graduation he started out on his career as singer and actor. ; “ESS Following a tour with a Chautauqua troupe presenting Faust with a company of five, he joined a company being formed by Mary Garden. The celebrated soprano recognized Mr. Morgan’s talent and advised a movie company to sign him to a contract. For four years he appeared in pictures without singing, until he was signed by Warner Brothers, who changed his name and gave him an opportunity at major musical roles. With his reputation now securely established, Mr. Morgan records exclusively for Columbia.
