BEETHOVEN, LUDWIG VON.
One of the greatest masters of symphonic music the world has ever eknown. Born at Bonn, December 16, 1770, and died in Vienna on March 26, 1827. Under him the allied classic forms of the pianoforte sonata, concerto, string-quartette and orchestral symphony reached the fullest glory of their development. In his twenty-eighth year complete deafness closed in on him, and from that time on he devoted himself almost exclusively to composition.
