Bak lanoff was educated for the law at Petrograd University. He studied as an amateur. He made his musical début with a small Opera Company. Later he appeared at the Imperial Opera where he created such roles as Boris in Moussorgsky’s Boris Goudonovyv. Baklanoff first appeared in the United States with (c) Matzene i Georges Baklanoff the Boston Opera Company. Later he was a mem Pebgriel avelistelhTor ber of the Chicago Opera Company. The principal features of Baklanoff’s work are the remarkable smoothness and richness of his voice, the wonderfully virile and manly quality of its tone, its immense volume and the singer’s unexcelled purity of intonation. She was engaged by Gatti Columbia Records Casazza, at that time Director of La Scala, and has appeared in all the famous Opera Houses of Italy and Europe. After tremendous triumphs in South America in 1913 Gatti-Casazza, at that time with the Metropolitan, introduced her to America in Lucia.
