song, Maria Barrientos is undeniably one of
the supreme singers and dramatic artists of the present day. Barrientos’ voice has a wonderfully pure, ethereal quality, delicate, refined and bird-like; and she uses it so skilfully as to leave the listener breathless with delight. Maria Barrientos ° : penords xciisibelt' for Milan in Lakme. She was engaged by Gatti Columbia Records Casazza, at that time Director of La Scala, and has
appeared in all the famous Opera Houses of Italy and Europe. After tremendous triumphs in South America in 1913 Gatti-Casazza, at that time with the Metropolitan, introduced her to America in Lucia. The profound impression made that night has been carried through all the performances of Barrientos with the Metropolitan Opera.
