| | 0° Re et de LE COURRIER CINÉMATOGR A PHIQUE 21 under a fresh light the « Himmel case » which he qualifies of « Formidable Bluff ». During the meeting which was held on Saturday by the Chambre Syndicale de la Cinématographie after the exposal during which Me Barbier, Court lawyer, and not M. Pierre Marcel as it was-written, owing to a confusion of names, narrated the cireumstances of the sale of the film Fabiola M. Pierre Marcel the ex-chief of the army photographical service at the Sous-Secrétariat des Beaux-Arts, made known to the Assembly the contents of two letters, which were remitted to him my M. Himmel, who came to ask him to adherate to a great Cinematographic Society, of xvhich he said to be the founder, the Roma NetvYork Company. The capital of this society Was then of three milliards Francs as proved by the copy of the acts given to M. Pierre Marcel by M. Himmel, at the same time than the two letters from the Board of Trade. According to these acts, the President of the Roma New-York Company was General Peppino Garibaldi. But, M. Pierre Marcel having asked for the original of the acts, of which he had only seen the copy, did not see M. Himmel again, and since no one ever heard any more of the Roma New-York Company. However as already explained the Chambre Syndicale de la Cinematographie wanted to know whether the letters presented as emanating from the Board of Trade and giving M. Himmel full official powers to give back to the French Cinematographie Industry its former supremacy were genuine. M. Meunier formally declared that these letters could not emanate from the Board of Trade. M. Meunier added that the drawing-up of these letters was not formulary (protocolaire). But all these articles published one after the other which bear up the judicious warnings of the Courrier Cinématographique throw a light in this affair, late light it's true, but beneficient. A good number of personalities which were draged to follow the movement and which associated to the fortune of the F. A. C. C. have to realize that they went astray, and now retire quickly some of them snapping the doors. The noise ingratiates it self, every day, of echoing retreats accompanied by indignant protests emanating of the fine blos soms of the French litterature whose good faith had been surprised. We learn, speaking about the affaire Treville, one of our wellknown and sympathetic artists, who like many others was taken by the shadow but who has now disengaged himself, that this Society is no longer existing. M. Himmelfarb's lawyer, called by M. Treville before the Conseil de Prud'hommes of the Seine Department on the 2 nd of December for non-payment of a forfeiture of 2.000 dollars stipulated per contract, declares the « Société Cinématographique Française ,» does no more exist, that it has been dissolved and liquidated, Here is a society obseurely dead at the prime of life, dead before having realized anything. Considering the crities formulated in the Courrier Cinématographique of the 28th of August and 1ith of September 1920, at the encounter of the « Franco American Cinematograph Corporation », this famous American society of 100 millions dollars of capital (one milliard 600 millions of francs) M. Himmelfarb, General Manager of that Society, had assigned our Director M. Charles Le Fraper, 6.000 francs for defamation and noninsertion of two replies adressed by M. Himmelfarb plus of course, all pains foreseen by the Law of the 29th of July 1881. The Correctional Court of Justice, has replied last Saturday 4th of December by à judgement rejecting M. Himmelfarb's claims and declaring that M. Le Fraper, would be asked 00220002088000808()20000000000000()00000008000000000000280()2000002000080() °0000200000000009 © ° 00 000000080000) 4 © CL LLEDCELTEELLEEELEEUELL TENUE 5 CATTAN et HADDAD:} De050200000000060 ()°0000088000000()000000008060D000000000020()00000980000000°000009600800€ 00° Propriétaires de Cinémas, Représentants de films à BEYROUTH (Syrie) DÉSIRENT se mettre en rapport avec Maisons possédant des Films à épisodes Drames sensationnels, comiques etc.…., pour achat ou location ECRIRE à l'adresse suivante avec renseignements très détaillés : CATTAN et Théâtre Français, Cinéma Pathé, rue Damas, Beyrouth (Syrie) 0e oo0o0o00o000600vsoessv0os0n0e()°00008006000080000000000000000600000 0000OOoe0000000000000080000000008860200008080 (000008802000 0002088069000e 60 OO ®°.°0920000 LLLLLLLNEN PEN ET TETE TEEN TEEENTTE HADDAD Rs nues ses ces oc
