The big manifestation of wednesday last leaves much hope for the futur and improvements of our trade situation. Those who were presents at this meeting organised by the C. T. I. (Confederation des Travailleurs intellectuels), could feel that the objet of the day's was reached.
It would be exagerated to state that all the members of the Parliament assisted to that demonstration but it is true that many of them had come and some ministers were there amongst them. We have remarked the Home Office minister ; M. Marraud, the Chief of Propaganda ; M. Danichon, and the honourables Messrs, Galli, Bokanowski, Rameil, Bonefous, Bazire, de Cassagnae, Gounouilhou, Méritan, Jean Fabry, Leboucq, ete.
The great Artistics and litterature associations were represented. « La Société des Gens de Lettres » by her president M, Harancourt, « the Autheurs dramatiques » by M. Romain Coolus,
Xanrof, ete, the French kinematograph Industry”
by M. Demaria, president; M. L. Aubert, vice-président of the Chambre Syndicale (K. R. S.) M. Brézillon, president (of the french C. E. A.), M. Benoît-Lèvy, president of the Syndicat des Cinémas des Grands Boulevards, M. Kastor general manager of the Agence Generale Cinematographique : M. de Morlhon, president of the « Film Authors » many of our contemporary as M. Coissac, Le Fraper, de la Borie, Simonot, Georges Dureau, Boisyvon, Catusse, Tavano, Danvers, de Reusse, Mylo, Ventujol, etc.
À large Box was reserved to M. Louis Lumière who received a warm ovation as he arrives.
The objeet of the meeting was to give a demonstration of: what is the French film Industry, what
it could be, what it ought to be. The reasons why it has not yet achieved all hop made upon it, and the chief point was to prove what are the urgent measures needed from the Parliament to help the French Industry and Art to its complet and free developpement.
These differents chapters are a whole program already considered as the final assault to the systemathic enemies and foes of the French Cinema Industry.
À severe critic on the present entertainments taxes, and fiscal system bearing upon the cinemas and theatres was delivered.
Speeches were made by M.José Germain, Robert de Flers, Louis Forest, etc, all for the cause of the French Cinema.
We had a fine display of natural colour films, made with the Gaumont colour process, showing flowers, fruits and butterflies ; it was so sweet and 80 beautifull that a painter could not have show ned them better. The 19 th, july 1919 triumphal return of the allied armies with the lovely tones of their many flags was a very fine display, acoloured picture.
Then we started again from the beginning of the History of the Film Industry, told by the screen itself. The two first films presented by the brothers Lumière on the eve of the Kinematograph Industry were showned, now we have the kinema industry applied to science, drawing, public health, agriculture, sport, travelting, the last a topical, was taken, printed and showned the same day.It was featuring M. Leredu at the « Exposition de la Maternité et de l'Enfance ».
But, the great surprise of the day was a demonstrationofapecfectly syncronised speakingkinematograph apparatus. Many members of the Parliaments appeared upon the screen making speeches to the crowd present in the hall, with a perfect syncronism of movements and speech.
