MOUKENGUE • Denise Charvein and Yona Friedman. Sitec (France) MOUKENGUE This is a film derived from African folklore, and the drawings arc based on rock paintings in Fezzan. The technique used in this film is verbal narration accompanied by animated drawings. Although the length of the film is almost a thousand feet, it was shot in only fifteen hours; the movements of the drawn actors were controlled individually and reduced to essential phases only in the words of the producer. 'The drawn actors were directed before the camera as real actors usually arc." Not only the style of drawing but also the story and the music arc authentically African.
