In her comparatively short career she earned a popularity that scarcely another singer may boast. Miss Miller has appeared in every state in the union and with invariable triumph. She has been concert soloist with eight different symphony orchestras; five times each with the New York and Cincinnati Orchestras; five times with the ‘Minneapolis Orchestra; three times each with the Pittsburgh and St. Louis Orchestras and twice each with the Chicago _Symphony and the St. Paul Orchestras. Her wonderful contralto has also been heard in concert with seventeen oratorio societies. Her voice is rich and sympathetic, exquisite in quality ‘and possesses an accuracy and purity of tone that is remarkable. Felix Borowski, the great American critic, said of her: ‘‘She has few rivals, no superiors as an interpreter of the music of Bach -and Handel.’’ Miss Miller’s programs are most versatile and have quality and distinction. She is an ideal oratorio singer, having a thorough knowledge of all the standard classic works, as well as those of the modern writers. Miss Miller is of Scotch birth and ancestry but practically all of her life has been spent in America. She received her early musical training almost entirely in Boston and later coached with German, French and English masters both here and in foreign countries.
